Here are some web sites that might be helpful to your planning for your visit to the Smokies.

NATIONAL PARK SERVICE WEB CAMS

This is a fun site to get you in the mountain mood. The National Park Service has two cameras located on widely separated mountains...one at the west end of the Park and the other at the east end. The views of surrounding mountains are updated every fifteen minutes. Take a look from the mountain tops.

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

This is the official web site for the Park. The site offers much information about the Park, including calendar events and special notices that might impact your visit.

HIGHWAY CONDITIONS

Before you leave home, you might want to check out the information provided by this site of the TENNESSE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION or this one of the NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.

WEATHER INFORMATION

Here are some sites for NATIONAL and LOCAL " best guesses" on what the weather might be like for your visit.

GREAT SMOKY ARTS AND CRAFTS COMMUNITY

To get an idea of the scale of the arts and crafts community here in Gatlinburg, visit their website. Directions and events calendar are included.

ARROWMONT SCHOOL OF ARTS AND CRAFTS

You might want to take a look at this site even if you're not planning on sharpening your own skills in the arts and crafts. While you're here, plan on making a visit to the school or its Arrowcraft retail shop in downtown Gatlinburg.

GETTING INTO THE PARK

If you'd like to really experience the natural wonders of the Park and do it efficiently and yet thoroughly, you might want to contact those who have made providing just such an experience their specialty. Look at the website of Vesna and Erik Plankis, A WALK IN THE WOODS.
