CHALET TREATS

On the page of Our Chalets we've listed some of the basic features of each chalet. Still there are more goodies to be discovered there. In each we've placed materials which should help you sample many of the treats of the area while you're here.

Faye has distributed many of the books she's used in creating mountain stories and characters for her performances. Both fact and fiction sources and samples of her own work hopefully will take you into a dimension of the mountains not so visible today.
Speaking of a dimension not so visible, we "salted" our chalets, inside and out, with mountain-building rocks and minerals that we have dug all over the Southeast. In our "Owner's Manual" we write about the pushing up and washing down of these mountains and about some of these crazy chunks we hauled home.
We also include condensed flora and fauna identification aids we created focused on what you might encounter here on Webb Mountain. For example, in putting together an aid to knowing what's around you, we selected wild flowers, trees, and birds which you'll see on your drive or walk around the mountain. While there are many places to eat in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, we offer our opinions and suggestions of where you might go on our side of Gatlinburg when the thought of fighting the traffic seems too much to face. We include those that would be in close proximity to the Arts and Crafts Community located between Cobbly Nob and Gatlinburg.

You won't want to miss the Arts and Crafts Community. There, artists and artisans create their wares as well as sell them. Most of the talents represented chose to locate out from the hubbub of central Gatlinburg in order to provide an experience to their visitor reminiscent of the way things used to be. The community is the largest of its kind in the country. Maps are available to show the extent of the community (go to the web site at GSACC),but in general it's located along Glades Road off Highway 321, at traffic light #3A, on your way into Gatlinburg from Cobbly Nob. You'll still be free of city traffic and parking problems.

On the Gatlinburg side of that traffic light #3A on US Hwy 321, or about a half mile from Glades Road, is Food City. (By the way, the Post Office is just across the highway as is the Gatlinburg municipal complex.) Here you can stock up on all the groceries you think you're going to need during your stay with us. Remember, our chalet kitchens are fully equipped with full-size refrigerator, range, microwave oven, blender, and all gadgets and utensils necessary for the preparation of whatever meal you have in mind. Yes, there's a dishwasher too. Food City has a good selection of foreign and domestic beer. For wine and spirits, try the Park Liquor Store directly across the parking lot. Food City also has a pharmacy.

Once you're in your chalet, all is not lost if you forgot to get a few food items while at the grocery. There's the Cobbly Nob Market down on the highway just east of Greenbrier Resort and Realty. Serving just such needs is their specialty. You can even get a bite to eat there, or maybe you'd prefer a pizza delivery...that's available too.
